Steve Plater and Michael Rutter.

Autographs from Steve Plater and Michael Rutter. These guys were truly nice guys. The paddock at Donington is laid out such that the garages are a bit small to have both the riders and mechanics in there at the same time. So these guys were sitting on the bumper of the transporter right outside.

There were a bunch of british fans sitting there watching them, so me being the American, I went right up to them and asked for an autograph and we talked a bit. My impressions of them are that they are regular guys that happen to be great riders. Michael Rutter has a style that is immediately recognizable, his head is always down and he's tight to the bike. He sorta reminds me of Aaron Yates in that he's a lethal rider when he's on, and he doesn't talk too much, he lets the bike talk for him. Plater is one of those lanky smooth riders, not unlike Hislop. He crashed and broke his ankle during the first race that weekend. I think he was in second. Good race anyway, mate.
